Ordo Ab Chao
Order from Chaos...
Most people really hate graffiti because of its chaotic nature and for the fact that it’s just not supposed to be there, but it is. They feel threatened by something they do not recognize and cannot control, which is easily dismissed as “illegal” or “vandalism”. This prevents any further investigation of the subject.
Laws are made to keep individuals from asking too many questions…here is a train bombed to shreds so heavily it is really damn hard to ignore. Who ever said the Truth cannot be illegal?

Invecchiamento

Getting Old
Over the last 20 years, Rome has had the fortune of having a subway system where graffiti is not cleaned, so it is possible to see writers' works running up and down the city for extremely long periods of time.
Very few cities in the world can boast a similar history: London, Amsterdam, and Bucharest these days. But the Eternal City has set a record regarding longevity, surpassing even the graffiti Mecca, New York City!
The subway cars of the Roman metro lines have been painted over and over again, layer over layer, generation over generation, in a mad struggle for visibility, in the attempt to stay afloat as long as possible in the suffocating, alienating chaos of everyday life that has translated into a suffocating visual chaos on the sides of the trains. A mess of overlapping names, colors, and shapes that only a watchful, well-trained eye can read, decipher, and break down into the layers, stories, and events of an illegal art movement that for two decades has been utilizing the public transport system of its city to reach millions of helpless spectators, imposing itself under the attention of the whole society.

Ultime parole famose... - Famous last words... (Sedo HB QRP )

So' andato molte volte, in vari orari, anche in yard.

One evening, I think it was the beginning of the week, we took one of the last trains to check out a train parked in the dark tunnel, it was clean. We hurried up and once above the manhole something was wrong, it was open.
Silence.
From below we could hear the sound of cans, voices and the smell of paint.
Two of us went down to check, and I remember we could see Gis painting the front of the train, and we could distinguish at least three other people. We went back up and decided what to do. Some of us wanted to paint anyways, others didn't want to. We had the brilliant idea of leaving an empty Ceres bottle with a rose in it.

Some of us wanted to paint anyways, others didn't want to. We had the brilliant idea of leaving an empty Ceres bottle with a rose in it.
We ended up doing nothing. We waited.
That night TRV, NSA, ZTK, and PAC crews bombed the whole train from one end to the other.
After they had gone we went down into the tunnel, but a guy in uniform yelled at us and we had to get the hell out of there. I don't think we would've found any space to paint though. A nice insult to the subway company, but for us it was just a matter of timing. That night in particular, I got really close to painting on the B-line.
We decided to go back the following week, but things went differently. We spent countless minutes hiding, with cops looking for us with flashlights and guns drawn. They knew we were there, but were obviously waiting for somebody else.
I went often, at many different times, to the yard as well.
Basically I have never painted a subway train in rome. It's clear that for a graffiti writer it is a vocation, and also a pity not to see your letters running for the most part in the underground of your city. For now I'm happy to have written my name repeatedly on the ring-road that surrounds the city.

Libertà di esprimersi - Freedom to Express Oneself (Des NSA)

English:
Freedom to Express Oneself
What I would like to express with this short text is, in my own opinion, one of the main reasons that brings an individual to begin this fantastic journey of liberation called "Graffiti Writing", that is, the sentiment which gives birth to this artistic movement. As for every artistic phenomenon that one would like to fully understand, it is necessary to study the relationship that exists between society and the movement itself. I strongly believe that with the creation of mass society, which led to an oppressive and alienating individualization and depersonalization of man, a particular necessity has emerged: the desire to find a form of expression that goes beyond those allowed by society in order to reclaim one's indipendence from the "social machinery"; freedom from imposition; to affirm one's spirituality through the manifestation of the way in which the graffiti writer perceives the reality that surrounds him.
Nowadays capitalistic society, through a series of rules and the illusion of freedom, forms and shapes individuals to make them submissive, meek and easily insertable into the machine of production and the working environment, whose only purpose is to increase the power of the State through the sacrifice of the individual, with the promise of a better quality of life, a kind of animalization.
Animalization; many times have I heard that graffiti writers behave like dogs. They go around writing on walls, leaving their mark on the territory to affirm their supremacy, and dogs do the same. The graffiti writer, through this animalistic behaviour, does nothing but ridicule this "infernal machinery", creator of animal-humans; and through this extremization process he seeks freedom; so a human being begins marking his territory to deny the cause that made him an animal, namely society, and acts against it.
Individuals suffocated by mass society search for new forms of freedom of expression that violate the State's laws, rules, and Social Norms. The graffiti writer is an outlaw and an outcast, not because he doesn't want to fit into society, but because he is aware of the social norms that define society itself, which he doesn't want to be bound to by choice. So he rids himself of these rules and searches for a new form of social status through the affirmation of his own individuality, without following the paths provided by Society, and searching for his own personal one. As a result of this we have a radical opposition to the will to control of which the State is the leading figure.
The message one wants to communicate is one of freedom, but the State is an entity, a multitude of men, structured like an upside-down tree, where the ones at the top can't see the ones at the bottom because it is too stratified and vice versa, so that one can not understand the discomfort of certain urban realities that determine these consequences, and what the State or the individual doesn't understand or is afraid of, it represses.
And it is precisely for this reason that many people are not willing to stop when faced by the many obstacles that arise when an individual chooses to travel down this road, as it would mean abandoning life, liberty, and putting themselves in the hands of some kind of political or capitalist speculator, giving them the power to guide them along the "right path". The aim of "graffiti writing", in my opinion, is to free oneself from a regime of oppression, distress, anxiety and fear created by society itself.
A fear that refuses to exist because it does not exist in reality, there is no reason to be afraid of it. It is unreal, fictitious, and conditions us. It is generated by Society. So one tries to act against what is keeping him in chains, by recognizing the danger before him, trying to extricate oneself, and at certain times risking his life to bring forward his ideals. In short, individuals who are often not given the chance to be "free", seek to create their own niche in this impossible world, searching for a glimmer of hope that they find in the art of Graffiti.
