Chi L'Ha Visto Girare?

Sesto strato: Due throwup top to bottom di Sila PAC, 1999.

Settimo e penultimo strato: Fresco (Masito-Colle Der Fomento), Jame PJ, Dest (R.I.P.) e Yes TUW, 1999.

Ottavo ed ultimo strato in nostro possesso: Cek, Pye, Gis, e Zoe NSA. Sui vetri throwup Esor e Fek, 1999. Sotto altri strati mancanti in foto.

On the upper part of the car you can read tags by: Manjar NSB, Pit1, Reig, Jety, and Wisk from the ROME ZOO, BDB from Paris, and Waeze RNS from Milano.

Subway car MR.503 of the Lido line painted in 1995 by Manjar and Tekne NSB MFC. Later that year Stand MT2 TRV painted the same car with an "Adam" piece. In 1996, Math NES from Amsterdam was visiting Rome and left his name on the left side of the same car. In 1997, Tuff and Joe TRV together with Jon ZTK painted an end to end on the car. In 1998, Lady Noia and Lady Match painted their names over the Joe and Jon pieces that had been covered by then, leaving the Tuff piece untouched.

Lieto Fine - Happy Ending (Joe TRV)

Sempre verso e nove e mezza me vedevo cor Chico e Sugo.

Che poi me telefonò pure. Va be'.
Lieto fine.

Happy Ending

Hey guys, I am Joe TRV and I love y'all.
Dear reader of this blog celebrating the 20 years of the Rome subway. It was an intense story crammed with pieces, end to ends, shootings, and many many emotions. The Heart novel (children's novel) is bollocks compared to this.
I don't wanna be outdone so I'll tell you a midnight fairy tale, actually the nine thirty in the evening-fairy tale.
Me and Sugo would meet around nine thirty at the line 36 bus stop at Via delle Isole Curzolane in the Tufello neighborhood.
I had a dream: to make the Tufello beautiful, cause apart from the Batucada pub and dope, it was a pretty dull and sleepy neighborhood.
Me and Sugo put in the work and made it into a nice super bombed sleepy-hood!
At nine thirty there was nobody around and all hell would break loose.
Cio ETC throwup, 1994.
Sugo and Joe TRV on a storefront, 1995.

The funny thing is that everybody knew I was CIO in Tufello, but for some fucking reason nobody ever said anything to me.
It was the same period as the CIO CIO CIO CIO CIO CIO end to ends on the A-line. Anyone got some flicks?

Nol(Joe TRV), Hest(Sugo ETC), Wist(Pane TRV), Wan MT2(Stand TRV) on a hot summer night. B-line, 1994.

And always around nine thirty, I'd meet up with Chico and Sugo.
We'd hit all the A-line stations from Termini on up all the way to Subaugusta. We'd bomb 'em hard.

Chico ZTK, 1995.
Sugo had this marker made from a blackboard eraser and an easter egg, it was totally raw.
One time in particular, we hammered away at this station, tryin' to be noticed by this dude we knew, ya know tryin' to be a little witty.
Afterwards I even got a call from him. Well anyways...
Happy ending.

English version:

Paint Thief

From 1993 to 2000, I never bought spraypaint, for the circle of writers I was hanging around with it was unthinkable to pay to express themselves. I'm saying this to make those of you that are reading understand what the spirit of graffiti was for us that lived it in its golden years.
I imagine that, like all the beautiful things and like life itself, this spirit changes and loses its most beautiful part as time goes by.

For instance, I realize that if I want to write in a city like Milano, I must do it with stuff created expressly for writers. To tell you the truth, I at least feel much more comfortable with shitty spray paint and caps in my hand than with a Montana… In the old days I used whatever I managed to quickly rack up from the shelves of the shops, and I might have found myself using cans that reacted with one another and you never knew what the end result was going to be...

Gast Jon Chico running towards the sea. Lido Line, 1998.

...however I didn't paint for the photo but simply for the emotions I got from being part of a team that worked for a single goal, that is the growth of the Name in the City.
I think that this stuff was infused in me mainly when I met my mentors, they always treated us as equals, and I remember when Joe and Tuff took me to bomb the insides of the subway with markers, they adopted the whistle used by the Roma Ultras at the stadium as a warning. They told me never to leave a friend in danger.

When I say that the values of graffiti writing helped me to be a man, it is because its values are universal. If I think about the bus competitions we used to have, when for 48 consecutive hours we challenged each other to see who could bomb more buses, and if I think about when I used to eat, shit and piss with Jon and I didn't have time to wash my hands because I was too busy winning this competition, I realize that the winner is not always the richest, or the one who has friends in high places or whatever...the winner is the one who gets down and gets busy. If you want a winning team, it has to be in symbiosis with everything.
